The following items in this lot come from the estate collection of Chuck Daly who assisted Philadelphia 76ers head coach Billy Cunningham from 1978-81 before his more prestigious stints as head coach of the Detroit Pistons and the 1992 Olympic Dream Team. Cunningham coached the 1978 1980 and 1981 East All-Star teams and brought along Daly his top assistant each time.
1) 1978 All-Star game program with 11 total signatures all from the Eastern Conference squad including head coach Billy Cunningham and assistant Chuck Daly. The players are Julius "Dr. J" Erving (HOF) John Havlicek (HOF) Elvin Hayes (HOF) Moses Malone (HOF) Dave Cowens (HOF) Bob McAdoo (HOF) Leonard "Truck Robinson Doug Collins and game MVP Randy Smith. Only Gervin Kenon and Maravich (injured) are missing. All but Cowens (black pen) come in 7/10 blue ballpoint. Program presents in NM condition.
2) 1980 All-Star game program with 16 total signatures including Eastern Conference head coach Billy Cunningham. From the East the players are Larry Bird (HOF '79-80 ROY) Moses Malone (HOF) Michael Ray Richardson Bill Cartwright John Drew and Eddie Johnson. From the West are Magic Johnson (HOF) Dennis Johnson (HOF) Adrian Dantley (HOF) Jack Sikma (HOF) Walter Davis Marques Johnson Paul Westphal Otis Birdsong and Kermit Washington. Most have signed in 6-8/10 blue ballpoint at various angles. All but Magic Westphal and Drew have signed in black. Program presents in EX condition and also comes with an 8" by 10" team photo of the Western Conference All-Stars.
Includes copy of LOA from Terry Daly Chuck's widow. Also comes with Letter of Provenance from Rich Behar owner of SportsCard Central who acquired many items directly from the Daly estate in 2010.
