One of the most unforgettable moments in college basketball history occurred on March 28, 1992, when Christian Laettner took "The Shot". That night's game matched the East Regional #1-seeded Duke and the #2-seed Kentucky. Considered by many to be the greatest NCAA tournament game ever played. Sports Illustrated even deemed it the greatest college basketball game of all time! With 2.1 seconds remaining in overtime, defending national champion Duke trailed 103–102. Grant Hill threw a pass three-quarters of the length of the court to Laettner, who faked right, dribbled once, turned, and hit a jumper as time expired for the 104–103 win. A week later, Duke throttled Michigan in the final game, securing a back-to-back National Championship run.
The autographed award presented to Laettner in 2013 stands a foot tall and is mounted on a 5-inch diameter stone pedestal. The words "All-Time March Madness Moment" are etched prominently at the top of the trophy, and a raised emblem commemorating the 75th anniversary of March Madness adorns the body of the trophy. The pedestal bears the inscription "1992 East Regional Final Christian Laettner's last-second shot for duke". There is a minor imperfection in slight chipping on the trophy's base. The award comes with a Letter of Authenticity from Christian Laettner himself. A representative from SCP authenticated and photographed Laettner's signature, and its authenticity is guaranteed to withstand any third-party verification.
