Nicknamed "The King" Arnold Palmer is one of golf's most prolific figures and its most important trailblazer. Palmer was the first superstar of the sport's television age which began in the 1950s. Arnie won a total of seven majors: The Masters (1958 60 62 and 64); the U.S. Open (1960); and The British Open (1961 and 62). Adored by fans for generations Palmer still looms large over the game of golf as one of its greatest ambassadors.
Presented here is Arnies late 1960s tournament used signature model sand wedge. His name is branded on the back of the club head. Accompanying the club is letter of provenance from Palmers longtime assistant Doc Griffin to Newport Sports Museum owner and curator John Hamilton attesting to its authenticity as a club used by Palmer in Tournament play.
