Offered here is a vintage Wilson red leather helmet that dates back to 1940. The exterior of the leather shell bears crossing panels and remains unmarked with no logo stamp visible. The interior has eight-point suspension padding. A name marked in red pen three times inside is not legible ("HOW--" "Hoe--"). The chinstrap is missing. There are surface abrasions on the shell's sides and a punctures on the inside. It shows heavy wear throughout yet still remains in VG/EX condition overall. This is one of the more desirable helmet styles and is difficult to find particularly when fully fabricated from leather and preserved so well.
Includes a Letter of Provenance from the Newport Sports Museum.
