Offered here is a very rare Wilson high crown hard shell football helmet that dates back to the 1930s and early 1940s. There are essentially two parts to this vintage design: an exterior hard white shell with four ventilation holes which is essentially unmarked and a reddish-brown leather base. The Wilson stamp adorns the front of the leather base. Model "D271T" is stamped on the rear as is size "7 3/8" and "Full Fibre Reinforced" next to a branded "19". The interior has all eight suspension straps completely intact. Even the original chinstrap is present. The helmet comes in EX condition overall and does not appear to have been used in grid-iron combat. Truly one of most impressive examples of this pre-war era two-section helmet style you will ever find in the hobby.
Includes a Letter of Provenance from the Newport Sports Museum.
