The leather "flat-top" style football helmet was state-of-the-art at the turn of the 20th Century and is one of the most heavily coveted early football helmets in the hobby today. This dark brown/black leather "flat-top" and "dog-ear" combo is incredibly rare and dates to approximately 1910. `The helmet is in remarkable condition for being over 100 years old with its interior cotton lining and dog ear flaps completely intact. There are 12 ventilation holes on the flattened top which is kept so with the help of a removable white hard paper cut-out. It is still soft and supple with some areas of age checking and cracking in the outer leather layer. Overall this heavily-coveted early 1900s helmet is in EX/NM condition with obvious signs of wear. What an incredibly high grade example!Includes a Letter of Provenance from the Newport Sports Museum.
