In the 1930 World Series the Philadelphia Athletics defeated the St. Louis Cardinals in six games 42. The 1930 Series victory was the Athletics' fifth (including 1910 1911 1913 and 1929) and their last one in Philadelphia before moving to Kansas City in 1955 and Oakland in 1968 where the A's have won four world titles (197274 and 1989). The manager of the victorious As was Connie Mack while Gabby Street served as the Cardinals manager. This official Spalding Babe Ruth Home Run Special baseball which includes a beautifully penned 9-9/10 Babe Ruth signature in black ink across the sweet spot was signed by Ruth and five other members of the Christy Walsh Syndicate during the 1930 World Series. Note: Walsh was one of baseballs original player agents as well as a public relations professional. The other signatures include both Mack and Street on one panel in slightly faded blue ink as well as renowned New York Giants Manager John J. McGraw and veteran pitcher Nick Altrock both in black ink. The baseball which shows evidence of being mounted with a hole on one side of it shows noticeable toning and darkening over the years. Ruth had evidently personalized the ball to someone with what appears to be the name of G.C. Burch.
