Presented here is a 1992 U.S. Men's National Team home jersey from an August 2 friendly match against Brazil, worn and personally signed by American midfielder Hugo Pérez. Born in El Salvador, Pérez moved to the U.S. when he was eleven and began his pro career in the NASL. He achieved great success with the San Diego Sockers of the MISL from 1984-90, scoring 107 goals in 125 indoor matches. One of the most technically gifted players of his generation, Pérez was named 1991 U.S. Soccer Athlete of the Year and earned 73 caps (13 goals) during his 1984-94 USMNT tenure.

On August 2, 1992, the U.S. hosted Brazil in the Amistad Cup at Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles. Brazil won, 1-0, behind a goal from Bebeto in the 78th minute. After wearing this shirt in the match, Pérez signed and inscribed it and gave it to his friend, Brazilian footballer Oscar Bernardi, who by that time had retired. The shirt comes directly from Oscar's personal collection.

The white short-sleeve jersey made by Adidas features thick red and blue stripes in a diagonal pattern on the right shoulder with "US World Cup Team" emblazoned on the left chest. The Adidas multi-flag size label (M) appears inside the collar with the German apparel brand stamped at the base of the V-neck. The front displays a blue "7" numeral below the stripe, and the reverse has a larger blue "7" showing substantial distress consistent with intensive match use and laundering. The shirt is signed on the front in black marker by Perez with a heartfelt Spanish inscription, "Para Oscar, de su amigo — Hugo #7 — Dios o bendiga a su familia" (To Oscar, from your friend — Hugo #7 — May God bless your family). We guarantee it to pass any third-party authentication.

The Oscar Bernardi Collection

This shirt comes from the personal collection of José Oscar Bernardi, better known as Oscar, who played for the Brazil National Team from 1977 to 1986. Included is a letter of provenance signed by Oscar. Most jerseys in the collection were obtained directly through player swaps after competition. Others were acquired via gifts or trade with footballers in Oscar’s wide network of teammates and friends. At age 71, he still resides in Brazil and is ready for his collection to be appreciated by others in the hobby.
