Presented here is an absolutely stunning pair of game-worn 1-of-1 hand-painted cleats from reigning 2015 American League Rookie of the Year Carlos Correa. After wearing Nike all of 2015 the Houston Astros’ star shortstop signed an exclusive deal with Adidas and unveiled his very first signature model pair the Boost Icon 1 on opening day of 2016 in grand style. The Astros first game was April 5 at Yankee Stadium and Correa did not disappoint. In the sixth inning he belted a solo home run off Yankees starter Masahiro Tanaka to tie the game 2-2. He would later bring in the go-ahead run as the Astros prevailed 5-3. A homer two RBI two runs scored and two stolen bases rounded out his day. Not a bad start to his sophomore campaign. The 6’4” 215 lb. Correa whose physical presence and natural talent is reminiscent of a young A-Rod is on pace for another great season as Houston chases their second straight playoff berth.

The white and navy blue cleats with orange Adidas three-stripe logos are each autographed by Correa on the outer midsoles in 9/10 black marker with “Opening Day 4-5-16” inscribed. The word “Familia” in large orange paint pen lettering on the right cleat stands out the most on the intricately detailed paint job. The Ponce Puerto Rico native is very proud of his family his Hispanic upbringing and heritage and the majority of the beautiful artwork in dark blue paint pen encompasses this: pictures of family member and relatives living by the ocean palm trees lighthouses boats fishing swimming with dolphins sombreros the work ethic of his father (“Carlos Sr.”) etc. Family also includes the Houston Astros and his new Adidas partnership and there are plenty of pictorial references mixed in such as the old Houston Astrodome Minute Maid Park “CLEATHEAD” (Adidas motto of bringing a sneakerhead mentality to baseball cleats) and a hand with three fingers up to represent living the Adidas “three stripe life”.

Correa’s No. “1” is stamped on the outer tongues with manufacturer’s tagging on the reverse showing his size 13 and player sample coding. “12/15” likely means they were factory made in December ’15. Original navy laces and insoles are present the latter of which are stamped “#FAMILIA” (left) and “#TEAMADIDAS” (right). The cleats show outstanding game use with dirt still stuck to the bottoms. Provenance and authentication on these puppies is airtight as they come straight from Correa himself. Plenty of photo matches.

LOA from Orlando Cepeda Jr. who got the cleats directly from Carlos Correa. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA (autos).
