In 1999 major league slugger Jose Canseco played his only season with the then-Tampa Bay Devil Rays and made the most of his short tenure: 120 hits including 34 home runs and 95 runs batted in. He also received his sixth and final American League All-Star nod. In the seventh game of the season on April 12 Canseco hit the 399th round-tripper of his career a 459-foot moon shot off of Blue Jays southpaw Graeme Lloyd at the SkyDome in Toronto. The actual bat Canseco used to launch that memorable home run which tied him at 28th on baseballs all-time home run list with Detroit Tigers Hall of Fame hitter Al Kaline is featured in this lot. The Jose Canseco model Rawlings Big Stick bat measures 36 long and shows considerable game use with multiple contact marks and bat rack marks throughout the barrel along with remnants of pine tar use that runs approximately 12 long on the handle. Canseco using a black marker signed and inscribed the barrel of the bat: Homerun #399 Jose Canseco Gamer 99. Cansecos uniform number (33) appears in black marker on the knob of the bat.
