Complementing its City Connect counterpart (Lot 98), this 2025 New York Mets black alternate jersey was worn by Pete Alonso in eight home games during which he hit career home run number 249 (Aug. 1st vs. SF), the penultimate milestone before his landmark 250th the following day. MLB Authentication serial PX708993 provides comprehensive game documentation.
In 2025, the "Polar Bear" became the franchise's all-time home run king when he blasted number 253 on August 12th, surpassing Darryl Strawberry's 252 dingers as a Met. For the season, big Pete led the NL in doubles (41) while batting a career-best .272 with 38 HR and 126 RBI.
The black alternate jersey, a style quite popular among the younger generation of baseball fans, features "Mets" across the front above Alonso's number "20" in blue and orange trim. The appropriate Nike MLB Authentic Collection tagging is present on the left front tail along with an additional MLB Authentic QR-coded label where the MLB hologram cert sticker is affixed. The back of the jersey features "ALONSO" above his number "20" in blue and orange trim. A black number "7" patch above the Mets crest on the right sleeve honors the late Ed Kranepool, the franchise's all-time leader in games played and part of the famous '69 "Miracle Mets". He passed away in September of 2024.
