In 2016 for the third straight season Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo earned an All-Star spot for the National League squad. Starting at first base and getting two plate appearances during the game which was held at San Diego's Petco Park Rizzo collected a single as the N.L. All-Stars dropped a 4-2 decision to their American League counterparts. This lot features Rizzo's signed inscribed and game-used bat from that July 12th Mid-Summer Classic which pre-dated the Cubs' epic World Championship run that ended the longest title drought in pro sports history.
The 34.5" bone-rubbed Marucci professional model black bat is specially engraved in the barrel with the following: "Handcrafted For Anthony Rizzo - Rizz Custom Cut-M." The bat reflects moderate use but does show a couple of contact marks in the barrel. Rizzo has signed the barrel in silver marker and added the following inscription: "2016 All Star Game Used." The bat handle is wrapped in blue-and-white "Lizard Skins" that extends for nine inches from the knob area. (It can be matched to Getty 546651574 and 546666620. The knob is engraved with Rizzo's uniform number "44" as well as the production date of the bat itself "07/08/16."
Includes MLB Authentics hologram (#JC 103242) and Fanatics Authentics hologram (#ZZ0050213). Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
