In 2016 for the third straight season Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo was named to the National League All-Star team. In fact the entire starting infield was comprised of Cubs the second time in history this has occurred. More importantly the talented foursome along with the club’s outstanding pitching staff helped lead the Cubbies on an epic World Series run ending the longest championship drought in professional sports history. This lot presents a special bat beautifully autographed by 14 members of the 2016 Chicago Cubs World Champion squad.
The gorgeous black-coated piece of lumber is an Anthony Rizzo Marucci professional model bat. In a striking sky blue colored paint pen the signatures include: Anthony Rizzo Kris Bryant Addison Russell Ben Zobrist Javier Baez Dexter Fowler Kyle Hendricks Jorge Soler Jason Hammel Hector Rondon Miguel Montero Pedro Strop Trevor Cahill and manager Joe Maddon. The 34.5" bone-rubbed Marucci bat is engraved on the barrel "Handcrafted For Anthony Rizzo Rizz Custom Cut – S” and has his No. “44” engraved in the knob. The bat reflects no use and comes game-issued. What a tremendous collector’s item to own for Cubs or baseball fans alike celebrating the club’s first World Series title since 1908!
