In 2011-12 Stephen Curry missed 56 games with an oft-injured right ankle playing for a bad Golden State Warriors team that finished 20 games below .500. Four years later the point guard known as "Baby-Faced Assassin" is a 2014 NBA Champion and back-to-back league MVP. Although I'm sure he'd easily trade one of the Warriors' NBA record 73 regular season wins in 2015-16 for a Game 7 victory in the Finals. Steph wore Nike early in his NBA career but decided to sign with Under Armour in the summer of 2013. Offered here is one of if not the first signature model pair of UA shoes Steph wore in a game predating the Curry One. The shoes are photo-matched by MeiGray to an October 24 2013 preseason home game against the Portland Trailblazers. Curry had 17 points and 6 assists in a 90-74 loss at Oracle. For the 2013-14 season Steph averaged 24 points and 8.5 assists and of course led the NBA in 3-pointers made with 261.
These Under Armour 'SC30' sneakers come in Warriors-themed blue yellow and silver. The UA logo adorns the outer ankles outsoles and lace holders. "SC 30" is stamped on the tongues and on the insole although it has faded there from wear. The interior tagging has his size 13 with "PROD. MO. 09/2013" to denote the manufacturing month. Under Armour specially designed this shoe for Curry's surgically repaired ankle. It resembles a light weight midsole with high ankle support made of a flexible durable synthetic allowing Steph to make all his sharp cuts on the court without hesitation. Steph has signed each shoe on the outer toes in 8/10 black marker. And as he does only for gamers he has inscribed "WSC" (Wardell Stephen Curry) on the right shoe with "Romans 8:28 I Can do all things" on the left somewhat smeared. Both shoes exhibit outstanding wear with fabric fading on the insoles from sweating as well as appropriate heel drag and multiple scuff marks from on-court action. MeiGrey has photo-matched the shoes to Getty 186373748. A better match is Getty 186370064 which clearly shows his "WSC" inscription in the exact location and the intricate outer design detail. It is unknown if Steph wore this pair again in the preseason or during the regular season as he like many players is known to switch out shoes at halftime or during stoppages if the feel is not right.
With his unlimited range spectacular ball-handling and creative shot-making ability Curry has become a transformative figure for the game of basketball a 6'3" 180 lb. everyman that the rest of the human race can relate to and kids can more realistically aspire to be. Great chance to own one of Steph's earliest Under Armour gamers the precursor to the Curry Ones (a la the Nike Air Ships that came before the Air Jordan 1's).
