Coming off a dream season in which he won league MVP honors and led the Golden State Warriors to their first NBA title in 40 years Stephen Curry was not about to bask in his glory and come out of the gates complacent in 2015-16. No no no. Curry and the Dubs came out guns a-blazin’ firing on all cylinders splashing threes from everywhere on the court and running their opponents out of the gym. The Warriors’ 24 consecutive victories to start the season broke not only an NBA record but a record for all four major sports leagues. Curry led the charge and continued his onslaught of three-pointers delicate floaters and creative finishes as the Warriors compiled a 73-9 record to surpass the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls for the most regular season wins in history.
And while it was Cleveland not Oakland that would ultimately celebrate a fairy-tale ending in the NBA Finals it was the “Baby Faced Assassin” who won his second straight Most Valuable Player award for the 2015-16 season becoming the first ever unanimous MVP from the panel of 130 voters and one league-wide fan vote. Curry led the NBA in scoring at 30.1 points per game and also led the league with 2.1 steals. He added 6.7 assists and a career-high 5.4 rebounds to his final statline. For the fourth straight season the most famous “Splash Brother” set a new NBA record for 3-pointers made this time shattering his old mark of 286 with an astounding 402 from beyond the arc. Perhaps most impressive was his efficiency. He shot 50% from the field 45% from three and 91% from the line to join the elite 50-40-90 club. And he was not even among the top 30 players in the NBA in minutes per game.
Presented here is an incredible game-worn and signed pair of Steph’s second edition signature model Under Armour sneakers the Curry Two courtesy of his exclusive memorabilia partner Fanatics Authentic. They have been photo-matched to the Warriors’ November 14 2015 home game vs. New Jersey the 11th game of Golden State’s record season-opening win streak. Steph had 34 points (including 5 threes) and 6 assists that night as the Dubs beat the Nets 107-99 at Oracle Arena. Curry wore this yellow and black ‘Curry Two’ colorway very infrequently. In fact we could find only one such game based on photo research. His silver inscriptions—“WSC ” [Wardell Stephen Curry] on the right shoe and favorite bible passage “Romans 8:28 – I Can do all things…” on the left shoe—appear in the exact same locations as Getty 497201844. Steph has also autographed each shoe over the toes in 8-9/10 black marker.
Specially designed by Under Armour to give Curry the stability and flexibility he needs for his fragile ankles the lightweight mids have upper ankle support with unique lower foot / back heel support bars. “SC” is stamped on the tongues outsoles and outer toes. Large UA logos adorn the outsoles and outer ankles. Smaller UA logos with "SPEEDFORM" appear on the insoles and lace-holders. The interior tagging under the tongue indicates his size 12.5 with “PROD. MO. 08/2015” to denote the manufacturing date. Original black and yellow laces are present. Both shoes display appropriate game wear with noticeable heel drag and light scuffing from on-court action.
