Offered here is an Atlanta Braves road batting helmet worn by Chipper Jones during the 2010 season. The helmet can be easily photo-matched (Getty 103189352) to July 27 2010 at the Washington Nationals in which Jones went 1-for-4 in a 3-0 Nats victory. Based on the fact that players typically get just one or two batting helmets for the entire season it is very likely that the star third-baseman donned this one for the majority of Atlanta's 2010 away games. Chipper's season was cut short due to injury when he tore his ACL on August 10. He batted .265 with 10 homers and 46 RBI in 95 games pondering retirement in the off-season before courageously coming back for back-to-back All-Star campaigns in 2011 and '12. A Brave for life the future Hall of Famer retired with 468 home runs 1623 RBI a .303 lifetime batting average an N.L. MVP award and a World Series ring.
This Rawlings size 7 1/4 helmet was made for a left-handed batter as only the right ear has a protective cover. The navy blue shell has a white “A” in Braves script on the front and exhibits outstanding evidence of game use. There are light Mota Stick marks on the outer brim as well as blue bat rack streaks on both sides making the photo-match conclusive (Getty 103189352). Jones’ number “10” white sticker is affixed to the rear next to the MLB logo sticker and MLB Authentication hologram.
