This lot features a game-worn pair of Dwight Howard's Adidas 'TS Bounce Commander' sneakers from his 2008-09 with the Orlando Magic when he took them to their last NBA Finals. The 6'11" muscular center averaged 20.6 points per game during the regular season leading the NBA in rebounds (13.8) and blocks (2.9) to win his first of three straight Defensive Player of the Year awards. In 12 seasons Dwight has earned eight All-Star appearances and is still just 30 years old. He will join his 4th team next season returning to his hometown to play for the Atlanta Hawks.
The size 18 mid-top shoes come in white with Magic-blue color tones on the uppers and midsoles. A thick Velcro strap goes over the laces for an innovative look. "BOUNCE" is stamped on the tongues with "TS" on the rear heels. His No. "12" is stamped on the outer midoles. A plastic heel panel is labeled "The Man" on one side and "Child" on the other to call-out Howard's nickname at that time "The Man Child." The original white laces are present but the insoles are missing and reveal instructions for each foot to "USE WITH ORTHOTICS." Appropriate Adidas tagging is found under the tongues with a hand-written "Howard" in blue ballpoint pen on the left shoe tag. Howard has signed the outer toes of both shoes in 9/10 black marker with his No. "12" inscribed. They come with excellent provenance from the personal collection of former NBA assistant coach Henry Bibby who coached many times against Howard and received the shoes after a game.
