From the most decorated closer in MLB history comes his 2002 game-worn autographed and inscribed road jersey. Mariano Rivera a man called “Mo” played his entire career with the New York Yankees and was perhaps the only player respected enough to don the iconic No. 42 after Jackie Robinson. It's only fitting that the number is now retired for good with Rivera being the last Major Leaguer to wear it. The Panamanian legend dominated hitters by mastering one single pitch: the cutter. His legacy as a closer will forever be remembered for his postseason magic helping the Yanks win five World Series in his 19-year Hall of Fame career. In an injury- shortened 2002 campaign Rivera registered a 2.74 ERA with 28 saves over 46 innings pitched with 41 K’s to his credit enough to one of his 13 All-Star nods.
The gray button-down jersey reads "NEW YORK" arched across the chest in navy blue tackle twill outlined in white with his iconic "42" applied to the back in similar tackle twill fashion. The embroidered red white and blue MLB logo patch is sewn on the rear collar. The sleeve ends have navy and white elastic trim. Proper "Russell Athletic Authentic Collection" tagging with flag tags for "100% polyester Size 46 and +2" extra length" appears on the front left tail above a "2002" strip tag to indicate the season. Affixed to the manufacturer's tagging is a pair of Steiner Sports authentication holograms. Rivera has autographed the front of the jersey with the added inscription “Game Used #42” in beautiful 9/10 fine-point blue marker. Jersey exhibits solid wear with noticeable fraying of the numbers.
Includes LOA from MEARS with a perfect A10 grade. Autograph pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
