This is an important collegiate jersey from former Chicago Cub Mark Prior a pitcher of almost mythic potential whose career was derailed by injuries that saw him play from 2002-06 before retiring prematurely. Prior attended his father's alma mater Vanderbilt University for his freshman year then transferred to the University of Southern California (USC) where he won several collegiate player of the year awards including the Dick Howser Trophy the Golden Spikes Award and the Rotary Smith Award.
This standout jersey hails from that 2000-01 collegiate career and features the famed Trojans across the front in USC cardinal and gold tackle twill on the white knit button-down garment. Priors No. 21 is affixed to the front in cardinal tackle twill and the back. In cardinal-on-gold twill. A Victory Custom Athletic label appears at the back of the collar with attached Size 48 flag tag and a Victory embroidered logo in cardinal and white appears on the left sleeve. Prior has added a black Sharpie autograph to the front left of the shirt underneath Trojans adding his No. 21 inscription. Shirt shows light game use and appears to be essentially as-issued and without alteration.
Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from the Newport Sports Museum Collection.
