Considered one of the greatest centers of all time, Hakeem Olajuwon led the Houston Rockets to back-to-back NBA titles in 1994 and ’95. His patented “Dream Shake” is a move that no player has ever been able to replicate, even in the present era of mobile bigs. Featured here is a 1997-98 Rockets shooting shirt worn by the 7-footer from Nigeria. At 35 years old, Hakeem averaged 16.4 points and nearly ten rebounds in a season shortened to 47 games due to a knee injury. In 1997, he was selected as one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History and finished his Hall of Fame career as the all-time leader in blocks with 3,830 (still leads by over 500).

The thick pullover bears the appropriate Starter manufacturer tagging behind the collar indicating size 3XL. The left front tail has large label with logos of Starter, the Houston Rockets and NBA Authentics, and includes two flag tags of the 3XL size and”97-98” year. Olajuwon’s uniform No. “34” is penned in black on that label, presumably by the team’s equipment manager. The sleeves and sides of the shirt are dual-colored in red and navy blue, with two snap buttons and a ribbed tri-color collar. The Houston Rockets team logo patch appears on the left chest, with a Starter logo at center and an NBA logo on the right front tail. The reverse has “ROCKETS” in large letters on the lower section. This is a unique design and warm-up/shooting shirts are not mass-produced like jerseys for players, so this could be the only one issued to Hakeem for that season. It shows solid evidence of wear with loose threads, puckering, and remnants of staining. Sourced from a local Houston collector and comes with LOA from Sports Investors Authentication.
