1996-97 Colorado Avalanche jersey game worn by Hall of Fame center Joe Sakic. Sakic played 21 seasons from 1988 to 2009 in the NHL all with the same team Quebec Nordiques/Colorado Avalanche. As team captain Sakic led his team to Two Stanley Cup titles in 1996 and 2001. He was MVP of the playoffs in 1996 and league MVP in 2001. Sakic was named to play in 13 NHL All-Star Games. Joe was an excellent scorer and had one of the most feared wrist shots of any player. In 2012 Sakic was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame. Large Avalanche logo sewn on front along with the Captain's "C". Avalanche "Big Foot" logo patch and "19" sewn on both sleeves. Large "19" sewn on back along with "SAKIC" nameplate. Starter and Center Ice Authentic Collection tags sewn in back of collar. Starter and NHL logo tag sewn on outside of back tail. "58R - 1LS8" tag sewn on inside of back tail. Jersey exhibits moderate game use.
Includes a letter of provenance from the Newport Sports Museum.
