This super jersey traces its roots to the 1990 World Series and the Bash Brother who helped propel the Oakland A's into the Fall Classic for the third year in a row. Mark McGwire socked 39 home runs in 1990; as any fan knows the home run pace would quicken dramatically in later years en route to a lifetime total of 583. Indeed for his career McGwire averaged a home run once every 10.61 at bats the best at-bats per HR ratio in baseball history (Babe Ruth is second at 11.76). In 1987 he broke the single-season home run record for rookies with 49. In 1998 McGwire and Sammy Sosa electrified the baseball world and beyond with a seemingly incomprehensible pursuit of Roger Maris' single-season home run record; McGwire broke the record with 70 home runs a record that would last only three years before being surpassed by Barry Bonds' 73. This jersey is a wonderful addition to that historical log a Size 50 beauty that shows game use but is otherwise problem free. The Rawlings tag appears on the inside-left tail with adjacent grey tag with "1 90 Plus 1." There is almost no fraying of the green or gold stitching around the tackle twill "Oakland" cursive letters on the front his nameplate on the back or his No. 25 front and back. On the left sleeve is the famed Elephant A's patch and on the right the 1990 World Series patch directly above the embroidered "Rawlings" script logo. The American flag patch appears on the front right breast directly above the "Oakland" script letters.
