Three-time NBA champion and Basketball Hall of Famer Kevin McHale spent his entire 13-year career with the Boston Celtics and retired after the 1992-93 campaign. He averaged 17.9 points and 7.3 rebounds per contest. In 1990-91 McHale played in 68 regular season games and averaged 18.4 points per outing. This lot features McHale’s Boston Celtics home white game worn warm-up jacket and pants. The jacket includes four significant labels in the inside rear collar area: “90” in black Swiss embroidered stitch; the Celtics exclusive label; a Champion manufacturer’s label [size 46]; and a fourth label reading “3” LB” denoting three extra inches in body length. Across the front of the jacket is the team name “CELTICS” in green on gold ironed on letters and on the back is a sewn-on green satin nameplate with “McHALE” appearing in white tackle twill letters. On the upper right front of the jacket is the “NBA” embroidered logo while the upper left front reveals a sewn-on U.S. flag to acknowledge the country’s fight during the Desert Storm conflict. The accompanying breakaway style pants [size 36] include proper Sand-Knit tagging on the inside rear waistband upon which McHale’s uniform number “32” has been written in black marker. To the left of that is the “Designed & Tailored Exclusively for BOSTON CELTICS” tag as well as a pair of stitched in cloth identifiers reading “88” and “37” IN” to indicate that these pants were issued two seasons earlier than the jacket to McHale and the 6’ 10” power forward’s inseam length. Green-and-gold trim run the length of either breakaway pant leg.
