Hall of Fame forward James Worthy was a huge part of the "Showtime" Los Angeles Lakers in the 1980's. The 7-time All-Starwas selected as one of the NBA's 50 Greatest Players in 1996 and his No. 42 jersey hangs in the rafters now at Staples Center.After leading the North Carolina Tar Heels to the 1982 NCAA titlealongside Michael Jordan Worthy was drafted #1 overall by the Lakersand played his entire 12-year career in the purple and gold. Over 926career regular season games Worthy averaged 17.6 points 5.1 reboundsand 3 assists upping those numbers in 143 playoffs games to 21.1 / 5.2 /3.2. In 34 NBA Finals games he averaged 22.2 points on 53 percentshooting from the field and helped L.A. win three championships (1985’87 & ’88). Worthy played his best when his team needed it the most.
Offered here is James Worthy's 1988-89 L.A. Lakers game-worn and autographed road jersey graded a perfect A10 by MEARS. The purple mesh shirt has gold-and-white striped knit trim around the neck and arms. "LAKERS" issewn across the chest in gold-on-white double tackle twill with Worthy's No. "42"applied to the front and back in the same configuration. "WORTHY" isarched atop the back number and sewn directly onto the jersey. The frontleft tail has the appropriate MacGregor Sand-Knit size 42 label with "88" year and 4" LB strip tags plus another tagreading "Designed & Tailored Exclusively for LOS ANGELES LAKERS". TheNBA embroidered logo adorns the left arm stirrup. Worthy has signed inside the front '2' in nearly perfect 9-10/10 black marker. The jersey displaysexcellent game use with significant stretching in the neck and stirrups as well as consistent fraying to numbers and letters. What a tremendous example to own from one of the best small forwards inNBA history!
