Former major league slugger Jose Canseco entered the big leagues in 1985 for a total of 29 games for the Oakland As before returning as the teams starting left fielder the following year. The 1986 season saw Canseco bat .240 as he collected 144 hits including 33 home runs. For his efforts which included being named to his first All-Star squad Canseco was named the A.L.s Rookie of the Year. This lot features a 1986 Jose Canseco autographed and game-used Worth rookie season bat that he has inscribed in blue marker on the barrel: #33 1986 R.O.Y. Gamer. The hand crafted Jose Canseco model 500T bat measures 35 long and shows considerable game use with contact marks and bat rack marks all over the barrel and plenty of pine tar on the bat handle that runs for nearly 12 from the knob. Cansecos uniform number (33) can be found in black marker on the knob.
