Presented is a match-worn Fort Lauderdale Strikers NASL home jersey from a July 24, 1982 friendly against São Paulo, worn by Brazilian midfielder Marinho Chagas and preserved in the Oscar Collection. The short-sleeve jersey is constructed in adidas cream/off-white and red polyester with bold horizontal red and cream stripes — the iconic color scheme of the Fort Lauderdale Strikers, one of the NASL's most successful franchises.
The jersey features a black turn-down collar with a center button placket, and the adidas Trefoil logo in yellow on the chest. The front displays a bold "#6" numeral below the team name "STRIKERS" in large black block lettering across the chest — one of the most distinctive kit designs of the NASL era. The reverse carries applied "MARINHO" lettering above the "#6" numeral in matching black, positively identifying the wearer. The jersey shows genuine match wear including fabric softening, scuffing on the front chest area, and general use consistent with NASL match play.
Marinho Chagas was a technically gifted Brazilian who found success in North American football alongside other international stars drawn to the NASL during its celebrated era. From the Oscar Collection with documented provenance from the specific São Paulo friendly, confirming game-worn status.
The Oscar Bernardi Collection
This shirt comes from the personal collection of José Oscar Bernardi, better known as Oscar, who played for the Brazil National Team from 1977 to 1986. Included is a letter of provenance signed by Oscar. Most jerseys in the collection were obtained directly through player swaps after competition. Others were acquired via gifts or trade with footballers in Oscar’s wide network of teammates and friends. At age 71, he still resides in Brazil and is ready for his collection to be appreciated by others in the hobby.
