Phil Hubbard played forward for the Detroit Pistons from 1979 until 1982. This lot features his game-worn blue Pistons road jersey and shorts from the 1980-81 NBA season which includes a rare lightning bolt design on the jersey front and both sides of the shorts. On the rear tail is the Medalist Sand-Knit manufacturers size 42 tag. Positioned just above that is another Sand-Knit tag that reads Designed & Tailored Exclusively For The DETROIT PISTONS. Across the front is DETROIT screen printed in white on red. Player number 35 is screen printed front and back in red on white. Player name HUBBARD is across the back in white vinyl lettering on a blue nameplate sewn into the jersey. This jersey has been recycled as the back nameplate covers the name "TATUM" as in Earl Tatum who preceded Hubbard and played for the Pistons 1978-79. The white trim around the jersey is tinted blue from multiple washings. Regarding the shorts the Sand-Knit manufacturers tag can be found on the inside rear of the waistline. The front right thigh area boasts a NBA 35th ANNIVERSARY embroidered patch while the left side includes the DETROIT PISTONS logo. The complete uniform shows considerable wear.

Includes Letter of Provenance from collector Bruce Tennen who acquired it directly from the owner of the Pistons' uniform supplier EastSide Team Sports.

A Michigan native Bruce Tennen began his sports business career in the late 1970's covering Arizona teams as an AP journalist. He spent the early 80's working in the front office for the San Diego Clippers before eventually settling down near his hometown of Detroit and building a successful career in financial services. Bruce has facilitated credit and acquisition funding for numerous Detroit Pistons players and executives. These unique experiences and connections have allowed him to build an impressive memorabilia collection. Part 1 of the Bruce Tennen Collection was featured in SCP's 2014 Fall Premier Auction and included an impressive early 1970's Detroit Tigers jersey collection.
