This lot features a rare 1980-81 Detroit Pistons white home jersey game-worn by former 7-foot center Paul Mokeski. The jersey sports a lightning bolt style emblem (1978-81) which began with Dick Vitale's brief coaching tenure in the Motor City. On the rear tail is Medalist Sand-Knit manufacturers size 42 tag. Across the front is PISTONS in red on blue. Player number 53 is screened on both the front and back in blue on red. Player name MOKESKI is across the back in red vinyl lettering. There was a name change on the back which was common during that era as team budgets were limited. Jersey shows plenty of wear throughout.
Includes Letter of Provenance from collector Bruce Tennen who acquired it directly from the owner of the Pistons' uniform supplier EastSide Team Sports.
A Michigan native Bruce Tennen began his sports business career in the late 1970's covering Arizona teams as an AP journalist. He spent the early 80's working in the front office for the San Diego Clippers before eventually settling down near his hometown of Detroit and building a successful career in financial services. Bruce has facilitated credit and acquisition funding for numerous Detroit Pistons players and executives. These unique experiences and connections have allowed him to build an impressive memorabilia collection. Part 1 of the Bruce Tennen Collection was featured in SCP's 2014 Fall Premier Auction and included an impressive early 1970's Detroit Tigers jersey collection.
