The 1971 Topps baseball set release was unlike anything that Topps had ever produced beforehand with their jet-black borders. The set consists of 752 cards and tends to be condition-sensitive due to the dark borders. The cards feature a large color photograph surrounded by a smaller white border that is encompassed by the larger black border. Player and team names as well as positions are all noticed at the top of the cards. A facsimile autograph is also included atop the color photograph for each player.
The set is anchored by future Hall of Famers such as Hank Aaron, Johnny Bench, Roberto Clemente, Reggie Jackson, Willie Mays, Thurman Munson, Pete Rose, and Nolan Ryan to list off a few. The high-number cards from #644 through #752 are scarcer than the remainder of the set and are all included in this lot offering. Overall, a majority of the cards remain in VG - EX condition with a few that may receive higher grades if submitted for authentication.
