Presented here is an outstanding jersey from the early years of the famed Montreal Expos franchise a jersey worn by one of the pioneering players from the first major league squad from outside the United States. The club would ultimately relocate to Washington D.C. after a 36-year run in the Province of Quebec. This powder blue 1971 road gamer was worn by Bob Bailey one of the original members of the club from their inaugural 1969 season. The shirt has Wilson Size 40 tagging on the front left tail and an embroidered 30-40-71 Set 2 on a team tag at the collar. The Expos M script logo is on the front left breast in red white and blue tackle twill with expos below in lower-case block letters in blue twill. Baileys No. 3 is affixed to the right breast and on the back in blue twill and the sleeves have red white and blue piping. Under arms have the appropriate six-hole venting eyelets. Shirt shows appropriate game use with some puckering of twill elements front and back and only the slightest bit of fraying of the blue stitching. The jersey is largely as-issued and problem-free and without any visible alteration. An important artifact from a popular now-defunct franchise and an international attraction from a bygone era.
