This is an important game-worn home jersey from one of the original members of the Montreal Expos John Boccabella a backup catcher and first baseman for the Cubs Expos and Giants in a 12-year major league career. Chosen by the new franchise in the 1968 expansion draft Boccabella played with the Expos until 1973 before being traded to the Giants enjoying a level of popularity with the new Montreal fans that far exceeded his limited role with the club before assuming the backstop duties full time in 1973. Playing in a glorified minor-league bandbox French fans at Jarry Park delighted when the teams public address announcer would drag out the enunciation of Boccabellas name to absurdity and beyond done in a professional wrestling style and in a seemingly interminable delivery. It is with this colorful history that this handsome home gamer is offered with red Rawlings (Size 44) tagging at the collar and chain stitching in blue of Set 1 72 on the front left tail. The famed Expos M logo is on the front in red white and blue tackle twill. "expos is in lower-case block letters on the front and Boccabellas No. 12 appears front and back in blue tackle twill. The sleeves have red white and blue elastic piping. The button-down jersey shows appropriate game use and is problem-free and without any visible alterations or repairs.
