Featured here is rare ABA referee's jersey worn in the1970's by veteran official Jack Madden. From 1964 to 1996 Madden refereed in the NBA and ABA working many classic games and series including the 1970 NBA All-Star game the 1975 ABA All-Star game seven NBA Finals between '78 and '91 and many more. Few defunct leagues carry the cachetof the long-departed (and assimilated) American BasketballAssociation with everything from the patriotic red white and bluebasketballs to the ever-so colorful and sometimes borderline cheesyuniforms that demand big bucks within the hobby. This piece is a perfect example.
On the right rear tail of this red and white vertically-striped shirt is the Rawlings size L manufacturer’s tag with washing instructions. On the left chest is the vintage “ABA” basketball patch embroidered in red whiteand blue. The collar and sleeve ends are trimmed with blue elastic and the front has an upper zipper for easier breathing. The reverse is blank. Madden has autographed the front in 9/10 black marker. The jersey shows moderate wear and comes in outstanding all-original condition.
