In 1969 the USC Trojans football team coached by John McKay finished the season with a 10-0-1 overall record and battled the Michigan Wolverines in the annual Rose Bowl Game on January 1 1970. In a tight defensive battle the Trojans outlasted the Wolverines 10-3 to win the Rose Bowl. This lot features a size 9 ½ Jostens 10K gold ring from that successful campaign that was awarded to the team’s statistician. Sporting the famed “USC” logo at the center of the face atop a red stone backdrop encircled by the words "ROSE BOWL 1970." Four smaller red stones appear on the front to compete the design. The ring includes the name “GUARDINO” on one shank along with a helmet and the number “100” while the other shank features “TROJANS” positioned on top of the head of a Trojan warrior. The ring is essentially in as-issued and problem-free condition.
Includes LOA from original recipient's grandson.
