Hall of Fame slugging outfielder and first baseman Al Kaline played all 22 seasons of his major league career in the Motor City and thus earned the well-deserved nickname Mr. Tiger. As a 10-time Gold Glove award winner who was named to 18 MLB All-Star Games Kaline launched a total of 399 home runs knocked in 1583 runs and batted .297 for his career. When it came to putting some bite into the Tigers offense Kaline routinely delivered oftentimes in the clutch. And though he never walked away with the American Leagues MVP award he did finish in the Top 5 in voting in four different seasons: 1955 56 63 and 67.
Offered here is Kalines autographed and game-used Detroit Tigers home jersey worn by the slugger during the 1970 season. This cream-colored flannel button-down garment features the club's famed olde English "D" logo sewn to the left breast in navy blue tackle twill and "KALINE" arched above "6" on the back in like fashion. Navy blue piping lines the collar and button path and situated on the tapered left front tail a "Wilson" size "42" manufacturer's label is accompanied by a felt strip tag with embroidered in black notations of "70 - set 2." The jersey exhibits medium wear with all seven original buttons still in place. Kaline has signed the jersey on the inside rear collar in fine-point blue marker.
Autograph is pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
