Here than is a sensational jersey from one of the legendary one-hit wonders in Major League Baseball history: the Seattle Pilots who graced the MLB landscape for one epic season in 1969 the year of the Miracle Mets and the disappearing baseball franchise. Seattle Pilots jerseys thus rank among the most highly prized and most significant of all modern jersey-style rarities. This wonderful jersey was worn by third sacker Mike Ferraro during the club's one and only season. He played briefly for the Pilots in that historic season then would see more action three years later after the team had relocated to Milwaukee. The white flannel jersey is lettered "Pilots" on the left breast above which is the club's embroidered logo patch. The No. 26 appears on the both the right breast and reverse. All letters and numerals are appliqu’¨d in blue on gold tackle twill. The year 1969 is chain-stitched in blue on the left front tail above which is a "Wilson 40" label. "Ferraro" is stitched in blue on the nameplate affixed to the collar. The famed MLB 100th Anniversary patch appears as an apparent original application to the left sleeve; some research within the hobby has suggested that the patch's placement was limited to the road jersey or the alternate style shirt that season. Six ventilation holes appear beneath each armpit as originally designed. The jersey is original and unaltered displaying moderate wear. The history of the Seattle Pilots is quite brief. Joining the American League as an expansion club in 1969 the franchise due to financial considerations was quickly forced to move to Milwaukee the following spring. Although the team hardly distinguished itself on the field finishing in last place with a 64-98 record the club was later immortalized in Jim Bouton's groundbreaking "tell all" book Ball Four. Because the Pilots only played one year in Seattle before moving any and all game-used items especially jerseys are extremely rare.
