The 1968 Topps set surely has a unique design compared to other sets in the 1960s and early 70s with its wood frame borders and colorful circles for the position and team names. Players names are listed atop the wood borders in black and red text, while the main focal point are large color photographs of each athlete.
This lot offers a complete set of 598 cards including all of the subsets (League Leaders, World Series, All-Stars, and checklists). Five important cards have been graded from the set and are listed as follows: #20 Brooks Robinson - SGC NM 7, #177 Nolan Ryan (R) - SGC VG-EX 4, #200 Orlando Cepeda - SGC EX-MT 6, #230 Pete Rose - SGC EX 5, and #363 Rod Carew All-Star - SGC NM 7.
Other notables include Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, Ed Mathews, Hank Aaron, Willie Stargell, Bob Clemente, Johnny Bench (R), and Ernie Banks to list a few.
Overall, the set remains in VG to EX condition. There may be some opportunities for grading for a few standout examples. An excellent complete set and surely a collector's favorite from the '60s.
