Offered here is a scarce Super Bowl II Yellow Variation Ticket Stub graded PSA EX 5. The World Championship game between the NFL Champion Green Bay Packers and AFL Champion Oakland Raiders was played at the Orange Bowl in Miami on January 14 1968. The defending World Champion Packers posted a 9-4-1 record during the 1967 NFL regular season and dominated the Los Angeles Rams in the 1st round of the playoffs. In the 1967 NFL Championship game they defeated the Dallas Cowboys 21-17 in freezing weather at Green Bay in a contest forever known as the Ice Bowl. The Oakland Raiders finished the 1967 season with a 13-1 record and crushed the Houston Oilers 40-7 in the 1967 AFL Championship. In Super Bowl II the Packers continued their dominance of AFL opponents with a decisive 33-14 triumph. Bart Starr was named the Most Valuable Player in the game with Coach Vince Lombardi collecting his ninth consecutive playoff victory. The game marked the end of the Packers' dynasty Lombardi era as the legend moved on after the season to coach the Washington Redskins.
The $12 face value ticket to football's biggest game in '68 is laughable with the current price of entry. This stub is very clean (front and back) with sharp bright colors on the front. Top corners are slightly worn and there is a tiny horizontal crease on the middle right edge the only blemishes keeping this mid-grade. The standard uneven perforation remains where the rest of the ticket was removed for entry. Only five yellow variation examples have ever been graded higher by PSA.
