Gérson de Oliveira Nunes, known simply as Gérson, was a central figure in Brazil's legendary 1970 World Cup triumph, orchestrating play from central midfield as part of the team widely regarded as the greatest national side ever assembled. From 1961-72, "the brain" as he was nicknamed, earned 70 caps for Seleção and scored 14 goals. On the club side, he won numerous trophies during storied runs in Brazil's top-flight division with Flamengo, Botafogo, and São Paulo
This Gérson jersey dating to 1968-69 is constructed by Athleta in short-sleeve cotton in Brazil's classic home canary yellow with a green ribbed V-collar and green ribbed cuffs finishing the sleeves. The embroidered CBD shield—Confederação Brasileira de Desportos—is applied to the left chest in blue, green, and white, with visible thread texture consistent with hand-embroidered period production. Number 8 is applied to the reverse in large green fabric with fraying at the edges consistent with age and repeated laundering. The jersey exhibits a consistent level of moderate wear throughout the body with some scattered mold on the front from age and storage. A vintage Athleta maker's label appears inside the collar. Match-worn Seleção shirts from the late 1960s and early 1970s are among the rarest and most desirable football collectibles.

Letter of authenticity from MEARS. Letter of provenance from Brazilian center-back Joel Camargo, who played alongside Gérson for the Brazil National Team (1964-70). Camargo passed away in 2014.
