The late Dale Schlueter played 10 NBA seasons in the NBA and began his career with the San Francisco Warriors in 1968. Presented here is his complete game-worn road uniform—jersey trunks and socks—from his 1968-69 rookie season. The 6’ 10” reserve center backed up star center Nate Thurmond averaging 5.8 points and 7 rebounds as a rookie. His best season was 1971-72 with Portland when he averaged a double-double (11.7 points and 10.6 rebounds). Schlueter passed away in 2014.

Vintage Warriors apparel is among the most eye-appealing and highly-coveted for basketball collectors (see 2004 GQ magazine) and this full uniform is certainly something to gawk at. The blue durene jersey has “The City” pressed on the front in with Schlueter’s No. 54 front and back all in California golden yellow. The early “bridges” design on the front and classic “trolley car” feature on the back add to its aesthetics. The neck and armpits are lined with gold and white elastic trim. Proper Wilson tagging indicating size 44 with washing instructions appears on the front left tail. Jersey displays outstanding wear with heavy pilling but remains in otherwise stunning condition.

The matching blue satin shorts have “WARRIORS” in blue lettering down the sides over golden yellow stripes. The vintage San Francisco Warriors logo patch a rare and striking sight adorns the left thigh with gold and white piping along the waistband and trunk ends. Inside the waistband is Wilson tagging with size 34 and “54” penned in black marker to indicate Schlueter’s number. Shorts display solids game use with a 2” section of the trim on the left leg end separated from wear and tear. All other elements come as-issued in outstanding shape. A bonus to this uniform is a pair of Schlueter’s game-worn blue and gold stirrup socks. Tremendous set from a popular player in his day perhaps most remembered for being part of the original Portland Trailblazers in 1970.

Includes a typed LOA from Schlueter’s longtime Oregon friend who assisted Dale’s widow in selling items from the collection.
