Former Cal-Berkeley center Darrall Imhoff played 12 seasons in the NBA. A first round pick (third overall) in the 1960 NBA Draft the 6’ 10” Imhoff competed for six different teams during his professional tenure: New York Knicks Detroit Pistons L.A. Lakers Philadelphia 76ers Cincinnati Royals and Portland Trail Blazers. His NBA stats included 801 games where he averaged 7.2 points and 7.6 rebounds per outing. This lot features Imhoff’s 1967 NBA Western Conference All-Star Game uniform that he wore in the league’s showcase event held on January 10 at the Cow Palace in San Francisco. That day the West team prevailed over the East 135-120 as Imhoff pulled down six boards for the winners. Competing for the L.A. Lakers at the time Imhoff was named to his first and only All-Star Game in a season in which he averaged 10.7 points a career-best 13.3 rebounds per game.

The gold tank-top made of durene material features “WEST” and “ALL STAR GAME” across the front in heat-pressed felt lettering that circles the Golden State Warriors team logo as well as the year “1967” which appears in red. The proper Wilson manufacturer’s tag (size 44) appears on the left front tail complete with washing instructions included. Four red stars (eight total) appear on either side of the logo while Imhoff’s uniform number “15” is front and center via blue sewn on tackle twill numbers. Blue-and-white trim can be found on the collar as well as both sleeves. The back of the jersey boasts Imhoff’s uniform number “15” in 7.5” blue tackle twill numerals.

The accompanying gold satin shorts (size 38) show moderate use and include a single blue stripe down either side with “West” appearing in small white tackle twill letters. The proper Wilson manufacturing tag is located on the rear inside waistband and the original white draw string remains intact. What an incredibly rare piece of basketball memorabilia from the man who once had the unenviable task of trying to defend the late Wilt Chamberlain during the latter’s 100-point game from 1962. It comes from the renowned “Lakers Shrine” collection of SCP Auctions President David Kohler who acquired it directly from Imhoff himself several years ago. See the :45 second mark of the video below for a great view of Imhoff wearing this uniform.

Includes handwritten LOA from Darrall Imhoff. Letter from MEARS with perfect A10 grade.
