When Detroit great Al Kaline was taunted by a youngster who said "You're not half as good as Mickey Mantle" he replied "Son nobody is half as good as Mickey Mantle." Mantle was a multi-talented offensive threat. He drove in runs with enormous power from either side of the plate. He got on base by hitting well for average and drawing more than 100 walks in each of 10 seasons. And he scored runs with his excellent speed stealing as many as 21 bases in a season (1959). Overall he scored more runs than he drove in (1677 to 1509) a rarity among power hitters. Mantle's combination of personal accomplishments and team success throughout his 18 seasons as a New York Yankee made him one of the most decorated and celebrated heroes ever to don pinstripes.

This Hillerich & Bradsby model D113 Mickey Mantle professional model bat is uncracked and shows evidence of outstanding use. The finish of the bat has been restored not affecting exceptional and extensive evidence of usage. Several ball marks and ball stitch marks are visible on the right and left barrel. Also visible on the bat are blue bat rack streaks and there is a light coat of pine tar on the mid handle. The model number (D113) is stamped into the knob. Also visible on the knob is the weight of the bat '32' (ounces) written in pencil. The bat is accompanied by a notarized Letter of Authenticity from Tony Florio a former New York Yankees bat boy in 1963 and 1964 describing how he obtained the bat. The 34 inch length of this Mickey Mantle professional model bat enables us to pinpoint the bat's date of manufacture to April 3rd 1964. Thirty-Four inch bats were ordered by Mantle only four times during Mantle's 18 year major league career. It is widely accepted that the shorter bats ordered by Mickey during his career were used by him when batting left-handed. The bat also possesses a light coat of pine tar on the mid handle which we consider to be an outstanding Mantle use characteristic. With ideal bat boy provenance great usage traits and prime Mantle vintage this outstanding high grade Mantle gamer leaves little to be desired.

LOA from Jaohn Taube of PSA/DNA (Grade GU9).
