By the time Walt Alston donned this amazing 1961 Dodgers road jersey he already had two of his four world championships under his belt having managed the Dodgers to their only Brooklyn title in 1955 and then adding another in the team's second year on the West Coast in 1959. In 23 years as a major league manager Alston led Dodgers teams to seven National League pennants and retired with more than 2000 career wins and managed NL All-Star teams to seven victories. He was selected as Manager of the Year six times. Offered here is a stunning 1961 jersey and pants from 1964. The flannel jersey boasts Spalding labeling on the front-left tail with attached Size 46 flap tag; directly beneath "Alston 61" is embroidered in Dodger blue stitching. On the inside-front tail a washing instructions tag is sewn with "Set 1 1961" flap tag attached. "Los Angeles" is sewn along the front in blue felt script lettering directly above Alston's No. 24 in red felt which also appears on the back in blue felt. Dodger blue piping in wonderful condition appears around the collar and button front as well as on the sleeves. The shirt shows game use and is in simply remarkable condition hailing from a period just at the onset of the club's greatest five-year run (1962-66) since moving from Brooklyn.` This light-blue flannel leg wear features a four-button fly seven belt loops and two cotton-lined back pockets. Sewn to the cotton-lined waistband a felt strip tag has embroidered script-style notations of "Alston 38/37 27 ins"; Additionally a Rawlings Size 38 manufacturer's label is accompanied by a laundering instructions tag and a "SET 1 - 1964" flap tag. Wear is evident with a button missing from the right back pocket.

Includes a Letter of Provenance from The Newport Sports Museum.
