ADDENDUM: Please note that the heading for this lot has been corrected. The date of the Rome Olympics poster is 1960 not 1942 as listed previously.
1) Original full color 25" by 40" poster for the 1956 Summer Olympics held in Melbourne Australia features "OLYMPIC GAMES" above the Olympic Rings and the Melbourne Coat of Arms with "MELBOURNE 22 NOV - 8 DEC 1956" printed below. Poster itself has multiple small creases/small tears along the edges. Other creases visible over other parts of the front surface. White tape has been applied along most of the back edge.
2) Original color 27" by 40" poster for the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome features a large image of Romulus and Remus atop an ancient carved column covering much of the front. "DIE XVII OLYMPISCHEN SPIELE ROMA 25.VIII - 11.IX" is printed at the top. "ROMA MCMLX" is printed on the column. Cardboard poster has creasing scratches small tears but still retains a distinctive look.
Includes a Letter of Provenance from the Helms Athletic Foundation/LA84 Collection.
