Two-time National League batting champion Tommy Davis was an integral part of the Los Angeles Dodgers success during the early to mid-1960's leading the club to two pennants and one world championship during that time. Presented here is a H&B professional model bat used by Davis during his transition from the PCL'S Spokane Indians into his rookie season with the Dodgers in 1960. In 1959 Davis led the PCL in hits (211).
The large 35.5 inch bat is uncracked and features a flared knob that is stamped with the model number “H4” and features Davis’ number “5” at bottom in faded marker. Number 5 was worn by Davis as a member of the Spokane Indians before he adopted the number 12 he'd later wear as a Dodger. Heavy use is evident throughout and Davis has signed the barrel in black marker with his added notation “1959 Gamer.” This is a highly desirable pre-rookie/rookie bat that was used by one of the most consistent hitters of his era.
