To show their appreciation for his part in discovering some of the talent that made them the most dominant franchise in baseball the Yankees gifted scout Percy Dawson these pewter tankards and pitcher. Dawson had a long history with the Yankees first as the general manager of their Norfolk farm team in the 1930s then as a trusted East Coast scout and finally as head of their mid-Atlantic region farm system. Presented to Dawson as a Christmas gift over three years 1954 1955 and 1956 these English-made vessels feature a finely detailed Yankees bat and hat logo with “CHRISTMAS” engraved below and the year each piece was presented. The set contains two tankards for each of the years 1954 and 1955 and the pitcher is dated 1956. The bottom of each piece is hallmarked with “ENGLISH PEWTER MADE IN SHEFFIELD ENGLAND.” A unique set commemorating one of the greatest teams ever assembled in baseball history.
Letter of provenance from Dawson relative. (Note: there is one original letter encompassing Lots 160 162 & 166. It will go to the highest selling lot. The other lots will get photocopies should the winning bidder be different.)
Payment for your invoice must clear in full prior to shipping. All items will be shipped from SCP Auctions’ Laguna Niguel, CA office in the order that payments are received.
