In 1955 “Dem Bums” a.k.a. the Brooklyn Dodgers finally fulfilled the promise of many previous Dodger ball clubs. Although the team had won several pennants in the past and won as many as 105 games in just two years before it had never won a World Series. Until now. The ’55 team finished 13.5 games ahead in the N.L. pennant race and led the league in both runs scored and fewest runs allowed. In the World Series they finally beat their crosstown rivals the mighty New York Yankees. It was the Dodgers first and only World Series championship while the team was located in Brooklyn.
This lot features a 14K gold heart-shaped charm with a raised oval section on the front that reads "Brooklyn World Champions" in raised lettering around a blue stone. Its blue enamel inset on the back notes the year ("1955") with a script "Dodgers" team logo below it in blue. The bottom of the pendant’s back is marked "Dieges & Clust" with a touch of light wear.
