Just two weeks before her death in 1962, photographer George Barris captured the troubled Marilyn Monroe in this candid portrait. Marilyn was dealing with multiple personal issues and career setbacks at the time, compounded by the excruciatingly draining filming of “Something's Got to Give.” Barris’ intimate portrait seems to evoke all the trauma and pain Marilyn was going through at the moment. This would be her last photo shoot with George Barris, and in two weeks, she would be dead of an overdose in her Brentwood cottage. The photo is from the collection of Kim Goodwin, a Hollywood makeup artist and Marilyn Monroe photography collector. George Barris has signed the front of the photo and the reverse has the Kim Goodwin Collection stamp. The photograph measures 5” x 7” and has been encapsulated and graded a Type 1 by PSA.
