Addendum: Heading corrected to "American League" Champions.
The 1954 Cleveland Indians advanced to the World Series for the first time in six years. It marked the team's third American League championship in franchise history. The Indians' incredible 111-43 record that year remains the all-time record for winning percentage (.721) by an A.L. team. However they lost to the New York Giants in four games in the Fall Classic.
This lot features a gold and enamel tie bar and cufflinks combination celebrating the Tribe’s successful ’54 season. The cufflinks are a beautiful pair of Balfour 14 carat gold 1954 Cleveland Indians American League Championship. Both cuff links are shaped like a baseball diamond with "1954" splitting second base and "Cleveland Indians" positioned along the third and first baselines respectively. A raised Chief Wahoo is in the center with two small red stones for eyes. Larger red stones are set as bases. Both cuff links are stamped "American League Champions 1954 All Time Record 111 Games Won LGB 14K." The accompanying gold and enamel tie clip follows the same base-path design with a bat positioned behind it. It is also stamped "American League Champions 1954 All Time Record 111 Games Won LGB 14K” on the back and the bat is engraved “American League Champions” on the barrel.
