This Type 1 team photo captures what should have been the 1951 National League pennant winning Brooklyn Dodgers. However, as every baseball fan knows, the Dodgers lost the pennant to their biggest rivals, the New York Giants, after having a 13-game lead in August. The teams were tied on the last day of the season and ended up playing a best of three playoff. This was famously won by Bobby Thomson’s home run in Game 3, sending the Dodgers back to Brooklyn to “Wait for Next Year.” This atmospheric Type 1 team photo captures Duke Snider, Carl Furillo, Jackie Robinson, Don Newcombe, Roy Campanella and the rest of the Boys of Summer posed together before a game at Ebbets Field. measures 8” x 10” and shows some edge wear and nice toning throughout. The back of the photo carries a caption slug identifying all the players. There is overall toning present along with some water staining. The photo has been encapsulated Type 1 by PSA/DNA.
