Offered is an extraordinary pairing of the official program and ticket stub from the 1948 London Olympics Football Final played Friday, August 13, 1948 at Empire Stadium Wembley—the ticket stub graded PSA VG 3, the single highest-graded example in the PSA population report with no others submitted.
The program features a bold green and tan bi-color cover reading "XIV Olympiad London 1948 – Football (Final) at the Empire Stadium Wembley – Friday August 13th 1948 – Official Programme – One Shilling." Interior pages include the competition program schedule, Jury of Appeal, Ground Committee roster, and an informative section on the Swedish Gymnastic Association's pre-match demonstration. The program also contains two affixed original 1948 Olympic Games postage stamps (2½d and 3d denominations) and the full International Olympic Committee member listing. The tan program stock shows light toning and age wear consistent with nearly 80 years.
The PSA-graded ticket stub reads "Association Football – Evening – August 13, 1948 – Empire Stadium Wembley – Entrance 14 – Row 23 – Seat 146 – East Terrace – 7s. 6d." The 1948 London Olympics were the first international football tournament ever broadcast on television. Sweden defeated Yugoslavia 3-1 in the final, claiming gold. The highest-graded stub in existence.
